Steven R. Garske began his assignment as vice president and chief information officer at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles on Sept. 25, 2006.
Prior to his appointment at Childrens Hospital, Mr. Garske had been COO with Perot Systems Corporation at St. Joseph’s Health System, Anaheim, CA, managing several high-profile clinical systems, including Cerner and Meditech across diverse geographies. He was responsible for more than 300 IT professionals, with end-to-end operational responsibility for profit and loss, all hardware and software, security, help desk, applications management, networks, operations staffing, customer service, metrics, policies, processes, proposal management, contract administration, project management and multiple other areas.
Mr. Garske worked for Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) for more than six years (1999-2005) and was account executive and service delivery manager at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles in 2005, responsible for more than 100 IT professionals, with full operational responsibility for project management, contract negotiations, servers, desktops, security, help desk, applications management, networks, projects, P&L staffing, budgets, customer service, metrics, policies, processes, proposal management, contract administration and other areas.
Mr. Garske was CSC’s global director of IT procurement for one of CSC’s largest clients in London, England, from 2003 to 2005, responsible for the due diligence of prime supplier contracts, process integration, resource estimation/allocation, tool analysis/integration, global pricing, teaming arrangements, board level reporting, cost reduction management and global supplier management.
He was global procurement director of strategic supplier relations at CSC Corporate, San Diego, CA and Falls Church, VA, from 2002 to 2003, with responsibility for CSC’s efforts in establishing and managing strategic agreements with companies, such as AT&T, IBM, Cisco, Nortel and other Fortune 500 companies.
From 1999 to 2002, Mr. Garske was CSC service delivery manager and senior manager on the SEMPRA Energy account, CSC service delivery manager on the BAE Systems account and CSC computer scientist on the BAE account.
Mr. Garske has also worked for San Diego Processing Corporation, Union Bank of California and World Savings and Loan Association.
He has been the recipient of numerous awards and honors within the IT industry.
Mr. Garske received a bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics, scientific programming, from the University of California, San Diego, in 1991. He received a master’s degree in business information technology from Kingston University Business School in London, England, in 2005, graduating with honors.
Mr. Garske also has completed the Negotiation Excellence Program, the Executive Best Practices Program and the Operational Excellence Program. He is also a Certified Novell Administrator and an experienced computer programmer. |
