Steven R. Edgett serves as vice president Emergency Management Products Group within EMS Technologies' SATCOM Division based in Ottawa.
He brings an entrepreneurial spirit to EMS as well vast experience in the emergency management and geomatics industries.
Edgett joined EMS in December 2000 when Digital Space Systems Inc. (DSSI) founded and managed by Edgett was acquired by EMS. DSSI specialized in software used to manage search-and-rescue operations.
As president and CEO of DSSI Edgett developed and implemented incident management systems for the coast guard and air force. This incident management experience helps form the nucleus of the newly created Emergency Management Products Group at EMS.
Since being named to this leadership position Edgett has broadened the scope of EMS' emergency management product capabilities to include not only traditional search-and-rescue activities but also other types of emergencies such as natural disasters riots and military operations. Under his leadership the Group has delivered next-generation systems to major government customers including the Canadian Department of National Defense NOAA the United States Air Force Royal Air Force in the United Kingdom Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Kingdom of Thailand and Brazil Aeronautical Commission.
Edgett also continues to lead EMS' involvement in providing ground- segment equipment in support of the Cospas-Sarsat system established in 1981 to provide distress alert and location data to assist search-and- rescue operations around the globe.
A native of Canada Edgett graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Honors’ Bachelor of Applied Science in Systems Design Engineering. |
