Steve Whaley joined Wal-Mart in September 2005 as Vice President and Assistant Controller of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. He was promoted to Vice President, Controller in January 2006 and to Senior Vice President, Controller in January 2007, where he became the corporation's Principal Accounting Officer. Steve's responsibilities include external reporting, corporate accounting, shared services, and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance related to internal controls over financial reporting.
Prior to joining Wal-Mart, Steve served as Vice President and Controller of Southwest Airlines Co., where he worked for 16 years. In addition, Steve spent seven years with KPMG.
