Steven M. Post is senior vice president, contracts and general counsel for L-3 Communications Integrated Systems (L-3 IS). In this position, he has responsibility for all the legal, contracts, subcontracts and export compliance matters within L-3 IS. He was appointed to the position in July 2007. Previously, Post was the general counsel and vice president, contracts, for the business unit, which was acquired by L-3 Communications in the first quarter of 2002. Post has more than 30 years of diverse legal experience. Previously, he served first as an associate counsel and then as group counsel for the company from 1987 to 1995. He served as assistant general counsel until 1998, as a senior counsel until March 2000, and then as vice president, legal, until March 2002. Prior to joining L-3, Post was an instructor in the Contract Law department at the Judge Advocate General’s School in Charlottesville, Va. Post began his legal and military career at the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate, Ft. Dix, N.J. as the contract and fiscal law advisor and as senior trial counsel. Following that assignment, Post served as a trial attorney in the Litigation Division, Office of the Judge Advocate General at the Pentagon, Washington, D.C. Post wrote an annual article for The Army Lawyer -Recent Developments in Contract Law-1986 in Review.He has written for several other publications. Post received his undergraduate degree from the University of Dayton in 1974. He earned his Juris Doctor, graduating cum laude, from Indiana University in 1977. He is also a graduate of the Army’s Judge Advocate Officer Basic Course; there, Post was a 1977 honor graduate and on the Commandant’s List when he completed the graduate course in 1984. Post is a past president of the Board of Trustees for Special Care and Career Services, a non-profit agency that provides early childhood intervention and supported employment services in the Dallas area Post and his wife, Ursula, have two children and two grandchildren
