Dr. Steven M. Kurtz is a Principal Engineer and Director of Exponent's Philadelphia Pennsylvania office. Dr. Kurtz specializes in injury analysis and failure analysis applied to medical devices including orthopaedic implants. He has expertise in the areas of biomechanics and contact mechanics. In addition Dr. Kurtz has experience with the effects of degradation and crosslinking on the mechanical and physical behavior of polymers. He has performed hundreds of finite element simulations of static and dynamic structures with material nonlinearities. Dr. Kurtz holds faculty appointments at the School of Biomedical Engineering Science and Health Systems at Drexel University at the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University and at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Temple University. |
