Steve Childers has a diverse background in accounting and finance and a lengthy career with Consolidated Communications. He was named Chief Financial Officer in 2004, with responsibilities for all accounting, finance, treasury, and tax functions of the company.
Childers joined Consolidated's predecessor company in 1986 and was named Director of Accounting in 1990. He has served in various executive roles during his tenure, including Director of Corporate Development, Vice President of Finance, and President of Consolidated Market Response, a full-service teleservices and fulfillment company. From 1997 to 2003 Childers served in various capacities at McLeodUSA, including Vice President of Customer Service and leading the company's revenue assurance Business Process Teams.
He is a member of the board of directors and serves as Treasurer of the Eastern Illinois University Foundation. A graduate of Eastern Illinois University, Childers is a Certified Public Accountant.
