As senior vice president of product engineering, Mr. McDowall, age 45, implements software engineering techniques to maximize the usability and stability of InterAct products. Since August 2003, he has managed the engineering efforts of InterAct’s crises management and communication software, MissionMode Solutions, which is SilkRoad Equity financed company. From 2002-2003, Mr. McDowall acted as the chief operating officer of illumineX, inc., where he was responsible for the day-to-day management of the company in the areas of profit and loss, development, marketing initiatives, product direction and corporate strategies. Mr. McDowall managed the growth and success of PLATINUM technology, inc.’s desktop management division as vice president from 1998-1999. At PLATINUM, Mr. McDowall was a member of the Senior Architecture Board, which was responsible for the company’s overall technical direction. He has secured five patents pertaining to the area of software system architecture and he is also the co-creator of UUM SIGNET, which handles all Usenet connectivity issues between the Internet and the state of Minnesota. In past years, Mr. McDowall has received the 3M-Creativity Award and Bausch & Lomb’s National Science Award. |
