Mr. Nelson is Managing Director of Chartwell’s ESOP practice. He has provided financial advisory services to privately held companies since 1991 and is a recognized authority on business valuation and ownership transition issues. Throughout his professional career, Mr. Nelson has advised clients on a wide variety of corporate finance, valuation and fairness issues for ESOP, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, general corporate and tax related purposes. He is an expert on valuation issues related to employee stock ownership plans and is an active member of The ESOP Association and the National Center for Employee Ownership. He has performed valuations as a court-appointed appraiser and his valuation opinions have withstood scrutiny by the Internal Revenue Service and the Department of Labor. He has written articles and made various presentations on valuation topics for professional groups including the Minnesota Chapter of the ESOP Association, National Center for Employee Ownership and various boards of directors. Mr. Nelson is an Accredited Senior Appraiser and Certified Business Appraiser. He is a past President of the Twin Cities Chapter of the American Society of Appraisers. Mr. Nelson holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in finance from the University of St. Thomas. |
