Steven J. Ellison is a member of the firm’s general litigation group. He was a partner in the Chicago office of a major international law firm and spent nearly 15 years defending Fortune 100 and other major national and international pharmaceutical and medical device companies and other product manufacturers in all aspects of litigation. He joined the firm as special counsel in December 2006.Steve has extensive experience and expertise in pharmaceutical defense litigation, including class action and multidistrict litigation, Daubert evidentiary motions, and electronic discovery. Steve’s class action and multidistrict litigation experience includes litigation involving blood factor concentrates, diabetes medicines, cholesterol medicines, sedatives, asbestos, phenylpropanolamine (PPA), and atypical antipsychotics. He has worked extensively with leading experts in numerous fields, including cardiology, hematology, FDA regulations, oncology, hepatology, psychiatry and neuroscience, endocrinology, toxicology, pharmacology, and epidemiology. He has defended cases in state and federal courts across the country. Steve also advises pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers regarding potential tort liability, crisis response, product recalls, and compliance with federal regulations. He has experience in commercial contract negotiation, counseling, and litigation, and he has lectured for the Chicago Bar Association on such topics. Steve is also an adjunct professor for Legal Writing and Appellate Advocacy program at the University of Minnesota 2007-2008. |
