Steve Carr is managing director, executive vice president, Dresner Corporate Services. Previously, he was director of public and investor relations at Rhea & Kaiser, and senior vice president and co-managing director of CKPR, a new communications firm owned by Cramer-Krasselt Co. that debuted in the fall of 200. Among Steve’s professional accomplishments are managing the IPO of Chicago Title & Trust Co. He directed the announcement of a successful new business strategy for ValuJet (now AirTran Airways) and increasing awareness of ABN AMRO Bank through management visibility programs and its listing on the New York Stock Exchange. Steve’s investor relations and public relations work for AirTran is featured in marketing expert Tom Duncan’s book IMC and the Al and Laura Ries book, The Rise of PR. Steve’s numerous professional awards include a Silver Anvil from the Public Relations Society of America, Award of Excellence from the International Association of Business Communicators, Golden and Silver Trumpets from the Publicity Club of Chicago, five ARC (MerComm Annual Report Competition) Awards, and five Mercury Awards. Steve was vice president for Hill and Knowlton in Chicago, where he led the media and financial relations group. He introduced fat-free foods for Kraft, handled IR for Bally Hotels and Casinos, and put Helene Curtis on the front page of The New York Times business section. He also held progressively more senior positions with Burson-Marsteller and Manning, Selvage & Lee, both in Chicago. A frequent lecturer and author, Steve wrote the chapter Managing in the Full Disclosure Society in the Handbook of Business Strategy. His articles on investor relations and business communication strategy have appeared in Public Relations Journal, Investor Relations News, Business Horizons: the Journal of the Indiana University Graduate School of Business and Marketing News. He was a workshop leader for the Public Relations Society of America 2002 National Conference in San Francisco on the subject of integrating investor relations and public relations. Steve is chairman of the National Investor Relations Institute Chicago Chapter. He holds a Juris Doctor degree from John Marshall Law School, and a bachelor’s degree in English from North Park University. |
