Steven A. Karg, a member of the firm, concentrates his practice in commercial litigation with an emphasis on products liability defense. He has substantial experience defending manufacturers and/or distributors of a wide variety of products such as prescription medications, tobacco products, heavy industrial equipment, marine engines, chemicals and chemical processing systems, automobile lifts, pumps, tow tractors, automotive accessories, trailers, forklifts, fasteners, soil remediation and food preparation equipment.
Steve regularly represents clients at both the trial and appellate level. He is responsible in part for the defense of the landmark case of Feldman v. Lederle Laboratories. He is also responsible in part for the defense of multiple defendants in the consolidated New Jersey tobacco class action matters. In addition, Steve has defended multiple putative class actions involving prescription drugs.
Prior to joining Norris McLaughlin, Steve was the Manager of Property and Facilities at Purolator Courier Corporation where he managed the company’s 200 plus facilities and supervised the construction of a $40 million materials handling facility. Prior to that, he was a production supervisor and industrial engineer at the Colgate-Palmolive Company where he oversaw the production of personal care products. Steve frequently speaks about products liability issues to various organizations including the New Jersey Corporate Counsel Association, New Jersey Chapter of Risk and Insurance Management Society, New Jersey Chapter of the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters Society, Northeast Pharmaceutical Attorneys and the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education. He has also authored many articles on a number of products liability and toxic tort issues. |
