Steve Williams leads Cornerstone's industry-leading strategic planning and best practice banking advisory practice. Steve has 20 years of experience in the financial services and consulting industries, focusing primarily on strategic and technology planning and performance improvement projects. Before founding Cornerstone, Steve held a similar position with M ONE, Inc. In addition, he served as an Assistant Managing Director with Arthur Andersen & Co. and as a commercial lender and operations officer with Chase Bank of Arizona. His financial career began as a Marketing Analyst at Chase Bank. Steve is a contributing author to Cornerstone’s benchmarking and best practices publications: The Mid-Size Bank Study 2002, The Cornerstone Report: Benchmarks and Best Practices for Mid-Size Banks 2003 and 2005 and The Cornerstone Report: Benchmarks and Best Practices for Credit Unions 2006. Steve is a regular contributing author to GonzoBanker and CUES Tech Port, and his thoughtful and insightful articles are frequently reprinted. He has been published in numerous banking periodicals, including American Banker, Bank Director, Journal of Commercial Lending, and Credit Union Management (CUES). Steve is in great demand as a speaker at industry conferences and seminars, as well as an experienced facilitator for management retreats and board planning sessions. Steve is a faculty member at the ABA Stonier Graduate School of Banking in Washington, D.C., the National School of Banking in Fairfield, Connecticut, and the Management Institute of the Credit Union Executives Society. He holds an MBA in Finance summa cum laude from Arizona State University and a BS in Business Journalism from Northern Arizona University. He has also served on the board of directors and chaired the compensation committee for a $300 million community bank in Southern California. |
