Stephen M. (Steve) Underdal, senior vice president, is responsible for the management and leadership of the Minneapolis Professional Liability team, while also serving as co-leader of Collins' Professional Liability Practice Group.
Professional Background
Mr. Underdal joined Collins in 2005 after an 11-year career with Guy Carpenter and Co., Inc., where he was a managing director and head of the firm's worldwide health care reinsurance practice. He coordinated corporate activities within the medial professional liability arena, developed new business opportunities, and educated brokers regarding trends and developments in the health care field. Under his leadership, the company became one of the leading reinsurance intermediaries for medical professional liability insurers. During this tenure, Mr. Underdal was also named a managing director of Marsh.
At Collins, Mr. Underdal and his team significantly strengthened the firm's presence in the professional liability insurance and reinsurance marketplace. Today Collins is recognized as the leading reinsurance intermediary within the Physicians Insurers Association of America and Hospital Insurance Forum network of insurance companies, as well as within other professional lability classes.
Mr. Underdal has attained the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU), and Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) industry designations, and is licensed to practice law in Minnesota and North Dakota, The United States District Court for the Districts of Minnesota and North Dakota, The United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, and The United States Supreme Court. |
