Steve grew up on his dad's farm between Henry and Garden City. He graduated from Clark High School in 1968, and then served in the Army for three years. Steve attended Industrial Welding School for two years in Willmar, Minnesota. He joined the Steamfitte/Pipefitter's Union in Sioux Falls, SD, and worked on several power plants and taconite plants the next 12 years while still farming.
Steve and his wife, Linda, have two children, Jennifer and Randy. Steve farms full-time and Linda works in Watertown. They live near Henry, and are active in school and community affairs.
Steve is also on the South Dakota Corn Growers Board of Directors. |
