Steve Olsen is Chief Operating Officer of CheckFree Corporation. In this role Olsen is responsible for overseeing the company's three operating divisions Electronic Commerce Software and Investment Services including day-to-day operations of approximately 3 500 associates across 18 locations worldwide. He is responsible for managing organizational structures creating effective management teams and leading operational changes that are integral to the company’s success.
Additionally Olsen has served as Chief Information Officer since June 2005 and is responsible for the Company's development and technology operations. Olsen oversees the long-term technology strategy for CheckFree leveraging corporate assets to build and maintain world-class technology products and technical infrastructures.
Prior to that appointment Olsen held multiple management positions within the company. He has served as Executive Vice President and General Manager for CheckFree's Electronic Commerce division overseeing the strategic direction business development and daily operations of the division's financial electronic commerce solutions for banks and other consumer service providers billers and merchants. Under his direction the division grew to a $580 million organization.
During his tenure at CheckFree Olsen has increased customer satisfaction enhanced operational efficiency and driven the delivery of innovative technology solutions. Olsen was instrumental in bringing the discipline of Six Sigma Process Excellence to CheckFree in 1999. With his oversight CheckFree's quality levels for electronic billing and payment and investment account management continue to set the standard for the industry.
Prior to joining CheckFree in 1997 Olsen spent seven years with Dun & Bradstreet Software (D&B) in Atlanta as Vice President and Chief Information Officer. In this capacity he was responsible for developing implementing and supporting complex information systems in a large corporate environment. Prior to D&B Software Olsen spent eight years with McCormack & Dodge Corporation in Boston.
In May 2001 Olsen was named Georgia CIO of the Year in the Global Category by CIO magazine. In addition the CIO Forum named Olsen as one of the Top Financial IT Executives of 2001-2002. CheckFree was recognized by NACHA with the Kevin O'Brien ACH Quality Award in 2005 and Olsen was selected as a Premier Top 100 IT Leader for 2007 by Computerworld magazine. |
