Steve Liffick is corporate vice president for the Windows Live User Experience Group. A 19-year Microsoft veteran, Liffick drives the communication experience for all Windows Live clients and communication properties, including Mail, Messenger and Spaces, the Windows Live Customer Design Center, as well as signup and release management. Liffick is one of the key influencers behind the definition and evolution of Windows Live Services and product strategy.
Upon graduation from Harvard University in 1989, Liffick, a Seattle native, joined Microsoft fulltime as a developer supporting OS/2. He has since held roles of increasing scope within the company on a number of mostly "1.0" projects. These include Pen Windows beginning in 1990, WinPad in 1992, Microsoft NetMeeting in 1994 and MSN Messenger starting in 1997. During that time, Liffick has expanded the MSN Messenger service into a global leader, with more than 220 million users and a No. 1 ranking in almost every market outside the United States. Most recently Liffick was a corporate vice president for MSN Communication Services.
