Steve began his public accounting career with the Nashville office of Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. (KPMG) in 1976 as an auditor. In 1980, he transferred to Peat Marwick's tax department under their extensive tax acceleration program (combining four years of tax training into one year). In February 1989, he left Peat, Marwick to join the Firm. Steve has significant experience in working with individuals and their closely held businesses. His experience includes providing accounting and tax services to businesses in a variety of industries including manufacturing, wholesale, retail, food service, real estate, service businesses, construction, non-profit organizations and automotive. Services include tax return compliance, tax planning and consultation for corporations, partnerships, individuals, estates, trusts and non-profit organizations with regard to both domestic and international matters. In addition, he has represented and assisted businesses and individuals with examinations, ruling requests, protests, and various issues involving federal, state, and local taxing authorities. He has significant experience with consulting as to the tax and financial aspects of corporate and partnership acquisitions, dispositions, mergers and reorganizations. He also has significant experience in estate and gift planning including strategies for transitioning of family businesses. |
