Steve DesRochers brings more than 20 years of progressive high-tech engineering, operations, and management experience to his position as vice president, engineering, at Brix Networks, where he has senior management responsibility for all of the company's software and hardware development, quality assurance, and IT efforts. DesRochers joined Brix in August 1999 from Newbridge Networks where he was in charge of that company's Massachusetts software development team, and co-developed the business plan to deliver next-generation IP products. Previously, DesRochers was a founder and the director of software at Acacia Networks, a startup company focused on providing Ethernet switching solutions, where he lead a group that designed more than 10 revenue-generating products in three years. Earlier, DesRochers headed the software, hardware, and mechanical engineering team at Cayman Systems, and he also worked seven years at Ungermann-Bass. DesRochers is co-holder of U.S. Patent No. 7,058,020 that covers a technique for hardware time-stamping data packets, which permits the precise measurement of various network characteristics, such as latency and jitter.
