Sterling Speirn has served as a member of Kellogg Company's Board of Directors since March 2007.
Mr. Speirn is president and chief executive officer of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and a co-trustee of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation Trust.
Before joining the Kellogg Foundation in 2006, Mr. Speirn was president of Peninsula Community Foundation, which serves donors and charitable organizations on the San Francisco Peninsula and in Silicon Valley. He was also founder and chairman of the Center for Venture Philanthropy, which has launched three Social Venture Funds engaging with the issues of poverty, literacy and environment. He is a past chair of the board of directors of Northern California Grantmakers and served on the Advisory Council of the Global Philanthropy Forum.
Mr. Speirn is co-creator and former board member of the Raising A Reader take-home book bag program, which now operates nationally in 27 states and earned a Fast Company Social Entrepreneurship Award for 2006.
As a member of Kellogg Company's Board of Directors, Mr. Speirn serves on the Consumer Marketing Committee and the Social Responsibility Committee.
Mr. Speirn and his wife, Diana Aviv, reside in Augusta, Michigan. They have two children. |
