Stephen Pratt has over 18 years experience in Disaster Management. Mr. Pratt started working at JLWA 2 years ago and currently serves as a Technical Assistance RFP in the State of Louisiana. In this role, Steven provides assistance to federal and state agencies in developing a 1.2 Billion Hazard Mitigation project. Additionally, Mr. Pratt provides assistance to the Louisiana office of Community Development and Recovery Authority, where he trains local government officials, and new state employees, in mitigation concepts.
Prior to working with JLWA Mr. Pratt was a self-employed Mitigation Specialist where he wrote local hazard mitigation plans and contracted, as well as, provided services to FEMA as a Public Assistance Project Officer and Coordinator. Mr. Pratt preformed these roles in the States of California, Mississippi, Florida and North Carolina.
From 2003 to 2005 Mr. Pratt worked for the Pan American development Foundation where he wrote grants to fund community based mitigation projects, and provided technical assistance to government agencies in Latin America. Stephen developed emergency management plans in the Caribbean Basin and implemented a nation-wide disaster exercise in Haiti to help train officials in search, rescue and recovery efforts.
Prior to Pan American and JLWA, Mr. Pratt worked in FEMA over 10 years. Stationed in Denver, Stephen was an Earthquake Program Manager, Disaster Assistance Employee, Operation and Planning Team Leader, and Hazard Mitigation Officer. Mr. Pratt has disseminated federal funds for earthquake preparedness in four states. He managed FEMA's Information and Planning Section where developed, implemented and coordinated Operation and Planning responsibilities with 27 federal agencies. Stephen is an expert in facilitating Interagency Hazard Mitigation.
Mr. Pratt holds an M.S. in Geography from Brigham Young University. |
