Stephen H. Kalos, Vice President, specializes in industrial organization, the economics of innovation, and intellectual property (IP). He has consulted to corporations, law firms, and government agencies for 25 years. His consulting practice includes three related areas: IP and Technology; Economic Damages; and Antitrust and Competition. Dr. Kalos has testified and/or consulted on a number of litigation matters involving IP and technology, including patent infringement, patent misuse, trademark infringement and delimitation, and misappropriation of trade secrets cases. In these matters, he has analyzed damages, as well as competitive issues arising from IP rights. Dr. Kalos also consults to government and corporate clients on management and policy issues related to technology and IP. For example, he served as principal investigator on several studies for the National Institute of Standards and Technology (then known as the National Bureau of Standards) and the National Science Foundation. Dr. Kalos also has testified, published, lectured, and consulted extensively on economic damages. He has calculated damages and/or critiqued damage estimates in many non-IP cases, including antitrust, breach of contract, fraud, discrimination, and product liability matters. Dr. Kalos also has extensive experience in the economics of antitrust and competition. He has provided economic counsel, analysis and/or testimony in many antitrust and merger cases. Dr. Kalos also analyzes competition in the context of defining the “but-for” world in his economic damages work. |
