Mr. Boyd joined ForSight Labs as the Vice President of Research and Development in 2006. Mr. Boyd brings a broad medical device design and development background to the ophthalmic arena. In 2005, he ran his own design consulting firm and contributed to devices in interventional cardiology, minimally-invasive spine surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, and interventional neuroradiology. From 2003 to 2005, Mr. Boyd was Director of Research and Development at Opus Medical, an orthopedic sports medicine company (acquired by Arthrocare for $130 million). Between 2001 and 2003, he was one of the first employees and Director of Operations for Volcano Therapeutics, an interventional cardiology company, which acquired the assets of JOMED in 2003. Mr. Boyd was an initial employee and Manager of Research and Development for Fox Hollow Technologies from 1997 to 2001. Fox Hollow completed a highly successful IPO in 2004. Prior to Fox Hollow Technologies, Mr. Boyd held various management and engineering positions at Heartport, Conceptus, and Guidant (formerly Advanced Cardiovascular Systems). His responsibilities have included product development, quality, manufacturing, and operations. He earned his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and is an inventor on over 20 US patents. |
