Stephen Sommerhalter represents individuals and businesses in matters involving commercial disputes. He has extensive trial and appellate experience in complex litigation involving banking, securities, mezzanine financing, contracts, leases, real property, intellectual property, creditors’ rights, lender liability, insurance coverage, and white collar crime.
Mr. Sommerhalter has served as a member on the California State Bar Committee on the Administration of Justice and as a faculty member of the United States District Court N.D. Cal. Trial Practice Program, the Hastings College of Trial Advocacy, and the Golden Gate University National Mock Trial Competition.
Mr. Sommerhalter received his B.A. in both Philosophy and History from Colgate University in 1971, cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He earned his J.D. from Cornell University, where he was an editor of the Cornell International Law Journal.
