Stephen R. Leslie primarily concentrates on the representation of debtors, creditors, committees, lenders, prospective purchasers, and other interested parties in the Chapter 11 reorganization context, although his practice also encompasses a variety of trustee, business, and consumer representations in cases under Chapters 11, 13 and 7 of the Bankruptcy Code. His active practice involves cases in Tampa, Ft. Myers, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, and elsewhere in Florida. Mr. Leslie joined the firm in 1993, and became a stockholder in 2001. He has acted as lead debtor's counsel in cases involving upwards of $50 million in assets and a variety of companies ranging from marina and condotel projects, hotels, general contractors, construction companies, real estate developers, aerospace concerns and defense contractors, medical and dental design, manufacturing and sales concerns, national carnival operators, and restaurant chains. He has also spent substantial time on commercial litigation matters in the bankruptcy context, as well as bankruptcy appellate matters, including litigation and appeals in the Linc.net, Jumbosports, Bicoastal, American Ship Building, Hillsborough Holdings, and Lykes Bros. Steamship cases. He has spoken on bankruptcy related topics on commercial Chapter 11 issues and debtor/creditor issues specific to Florida, and is a member of the Hillsborough County Bar Association, The Florida Bar, the Tampa Bay Bankruptcy Bar Association, and the Southwest Florida Bankruptcy Professional Association. Mr. Leslie was admitted to The Florida Bar in 1994 and North Carolina in 1997. He is a member of the bar of the United States District Courts for the Middle, Northern and Southern Districts of Florida, as well as the United States Circuit Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. He graduated from the University of South Florida, B.S.B.A. 1990, and from the Stetson University College of Law, JD cum laude 1993, where he received book awards for the highest academic scores in six law school courses, including the Alexander L. Paskay Bankruptcy Book Award and the American Jurisprudence Secured Transactions Book Award.
