Prior to joining Sucsy, Fischer, & Company., Steve Slavin was a partner and head of the business law practice for the Chicago office of Foley & Lardner, a large, multi-state, national law firm, where he specialized in mergers and acquisitions and other corporate finance and securities law matters. Steve represented clients in many industries including manufacturing, business services, metalworking, distribution, biotechnology and engineered products. Steve also served as principal lead counsel to Foley & Lardner in that firm’s acquisition of other law firms and practices. He has managed other professionals and individually advised many companies and clients on all aspects of merger and acquisition transactions, including buy side and sell side advice and structuring, management buyouts, leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations, divestitures, and estate planning diversification. He has guided clients through financial restructuring, as well as debt, equity and mezzanine private placements. He has also represented issuers and underwriters through the public offering process. His clients included businesses in all parts of the United States as well as the representation of foreign investors’ United States interests.
He has served as Chairman and interim CEO of Digital Biometrics, a publicly-held company, and has served as a director of numerous closely-held companies. He has also been a frequent lecturer on negotiating skills, strategy and tactics.
Prior to joining Foley & Lardner, Steve was a co-founder, head of the corporate law department and, subsequently, Chairman of Coffield, Ungaretti, Harris & Slavin, a mid-size Chicago law firm, where he also managed corporate finance and transaction attorneys in a wide variety of transactions.
Steve has a B.A. degree from Colgate University, and a J.D. from the University of Chicago. |
