Steve has more than 20 years of experience providing professional service to law firms and multinational companies. He has worked with both public and private manufacturing and technology companies, with primary emphasis on larger, public multinational clients.
Professional Experience
Prior to joining Huron, Steve was an audit partner with both Ernst & Young and Arthur Andersen. In addition to client service responsibilities, he was a member of Ernst & Young's Professional Practice Group, consulting with engagement teams. He served in Arthur Andersen's Professional Standards Group, interacting with various standard setters and consulting with engagement teams on unique and complicated accounting matters. Steve has led numerous investigations of publicly traded companies related to accounting issues and restatement matters. He has presented findings to the Securities and Exchange Commission, the United States Department of Justice, the Ontario Securities Commission, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Steve has significant experience in the resolution of purchase price disputes, from both the buyer's and the seller's side. He also has served as an arbitrator in such disputes. Steve has led numerous engagements, including several multi-billion dollar transactions, assisting clients in reaching negotiated settlements as well as preparing for arbitration proceedings.

Engaged by counsel to conduct a two-year independent investigation of the financial statement restatements of a $10B, publicly-traded telecom company. The investigation addressed accounting for reserves and accruals and revenue recognition, among other matters.
Engaged by counsel to conduct an investigation of a $300M publicly-traded software company. The investigation centered around the potential backdating of stock options.
Engaged by counsel to conduct an investigation of the financial statement restatement of a $400M, publicly-traded medical device company. The investigation addressed revenue recognition and accounting for foreign exchange transactions, among other matters.
Assisted a Fortune 50 technology company with a formal SEC investigation of revenue recognition practices.
Engaged by counsel to assist a $15B publicly-traded technology company in the defense of various shareholder class-action litigation resulting from a financial statement restatement of the Company. The accounting issues related to revenue recognition, lease accounting, securitization transactions, reserves and restructuring, among other matters.
Engaged by the buyer and seller in a $1.1B transaction to serve as the arbitrator in a $60M purchase price dispute involving various accounting issues.
Assisted a Fortune 50 technology company in a $300M purchase price accounting dispute related to a $4B acquisition.
