Current responsibility
Steve joined Milliman in September of 1988 in our Seattle office. In February of 1992, he moved to Japan to help establish Milliman's Tokyo office and served as Managing Director and Senior Consultant between July 1996 and December 2003. Steve is Advisor - Special Situation in our Japan office since January 2005.
Experience
His area of expertise is consulting to Japanese life insurance companies on financial and capital management issues, M&A, corporate restructuring, and demutualization. In addition, he consults on broader strategic planning issues, product design, and agent compensation. In addition, he consults with North American and European companies on market entry issues, including greenfield operations, establishment of joint ventures, and M&A.
Presentations and publications
A frequent speaker at insurance forums, Steve has made presentations to the Institute of Actuaries of Japan, the Society of Actuaries, the American Council of Life Insurance and other groups. He has published analyses in the Asian Wall Street Journal, Asia Insurance Review, Japan Insurance Magazine, and Contingencies.
