Stephen D. Plavin is the Chief Operating Officer of Capital Trust and is responsible for all lending and portfolio management activities. Prior to joining Capital Trust in 1998 Mr. Plavin was co-head of Global Real Estate for The Chase Manhattan Bank and Chase Securities Inc. Mr. Plavin joined the Real Estate Division of Chase (via its predecessor Chemical Bank) in 1984. In 1993 Mr. Plavin was promoted to Managing Director and named President of Chemical Realty Sales Inc. a subsidiary that sold more than $900 million of properties in 75 separate transactions. In 1995 Mr. Plavin re-started the Bank's new business efforts in real estate and under his leadership Chase became the market leader in arranging syndicated financings for real estate companies with over $15 billion of transactions completed. In September 1997 Mr. Plavin was named co-head of Global Real Estate with responsibility for managing Chase's relationship and investment banking activities with real estate and lodging companies throughout the world. Mr. Plavin graduated from Tufts University with a B.A. in English and has an M.B.A. from J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
