Steve graduated from San Jose State University with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering in 1973 and he also received his Master's Degree there in Chemical Engineering in 1977. From 1973 to 1997 he held various positions with the Monsanto Company ranging from Process Engineer to Plant Manager, and eventually as a Commercial Director. While Commercial Director, he established and led a joint venture with the premier Mexican glass company based in Monterrey to provide windshield safety inter-layer for Latin American automotive needs, including the US transplants. Prior to joining Gemesis, Steve's previous position was as Group Vice President and General Manager of the Engelhard Corporation, a surface and materials science company that provides environmental technologies, specialty chemical and performance products. Steve led an $800 million operating division providing pigments for cosmetic, automotive and architectural applications. He directed five separate global business units and held the dual role of General Manager for one of the most profitable and highest growth business units of Engelhard. His responsibilities included managing a headcount of 2,800 employees, 12 global manufacturing sites, three research facilities, and seven sales and distribution centers around the world. |
