Stephen Deutsch is an intellectual property partner and registered patent attorney. He is experienced in cutting-edge patent litigation and also assists clients with patent prosecution and opinions and with trade secret matters. Stephen is well positioned to use his knowledge of patent litigation to help clients prosecute strong patents that offer ample protection against infringement.
In his IP litigation practice Stephen has represented clients in technical fields ranging from electronics and telecommunications to medical products and pharmaceuticals. He has handled patent lawsuits in U.S. District Courts and successfully represented clients in appeals to the Federal Circuit. His trial work also includes representing clients in numerous lawsuits concerning theft of trade secrets.
As part of his prosecution practice, Stephen has written patent applications directed to Internet applications, cryptography, fiber optics, satellite communications, computer systems, network applications, software, business methods, cellular telephony and other technologies. He provides clients in these and other applications with opinions regarding validity, enforceability and infringement of patents. Stephen helps clients develop, manage and exploit intellectual property portfolios by providing strategic advice tailored to their business needs.
Prior to attending law school, Stephen worked in Washington, DC at the Institute for Defense Analyses.

Successfully represented a manufacturer of power converters in patent infringement litigation, obtaining a favorable claim construction, defending it at the Federal Circuit, and ultimately obtaining a very favorable settlement
Represents a pharmaceutical company in Hatch-Waxman litigation against a proposed generic entrant
Represents a major cellular telephone manufacturer in preparing for a patent interference proceeding
