Stephen A. Sherwin, M.D. joined us as a director in March 2000. Since March 1990, he has served as Chief Executive Officer and director of Cell Genesys, Inc., and as Chairman of the Board of Cell Genesys since March 1994. From March 1990 to August 2001, Dr. Sherwin held the additional position of President of Cell Genesys. From 1983 to 1990, Dr. Sherwin held various positions at Genentech, Inc. a biopharmaceutical company, most recently as Vice President, Clinical Research. Dr. Sherwin currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Ceregene, Inc., a subsidiary of Cell Genesys, which he co-founded in 2001, and as a director of Neurocrine Biosciences, Inc. He was also a co-founder of Abgenix, Inc., a former subsidiary of Cell Genesys. Dr. Sherwin received his M.D. from Harvard Medical School and his B.A. from Yale University. |
