Stefan M. Meisner is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Firm’s Washington, D.C. office. Stefan is a member of the Firm’s Antitrust and Competition Practice Group, where his practice focuses on defending mergers and acquisitions in the United States and throughout the world; and civil antitrust litigation. In addition, his antitrust practice includes extensive antitrust counseling, merger notification counseling under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act and multinational notification regimes, and government investigations.
Stefan has substantial experience in a variety of industries, namely, defense and aerospace, high tech, building materials, hospitals, alcohol beverages, steel, mining and aggregates. Major mergers and acquisitions in which he has participated include multi-billion dollar acquisitions in the defense and aerospace, beverage and medical equipment industries and multi-million dollar acquisitions in the aggregates, high tech and steel industries.
Stefan also has substantial civil antitrust litigation experience. He has defended clients against class action antitrust complaints alleging Sherman Act violations. In addition, Stefan has both defended and prosecuted antitrust claims where intellectual property was at issue. Recent successes include victories in the following cases: Static Control Components, Inc. v. Lexmark Int’l, Inc. and Jung v. Association of Am. Med. Colleges;
While attending the American University's Washington College of Law, Stefan was editor-in-chief of the American University International Law Review. Stefan is a member of the District of Columbia Bar and the Maryland State Bar, and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, the U.S. Court of International Trade and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
