Mr. Bergman has been Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Henry Schein, Inc. since 1989, and a Director of the Company since 1982. He served as Executive Vice President of the Company from 1985 to 1989, and Vice President of Finance and Administration of the Company from 1980 to 1985.
Mr. Bergman is an active supporter of organizations fostering the arts, higher education, cultural diversity and grassroots healthcare and sustainable entrepreneurial economic development initiatives in the United States, Africa and other developing regions of the world. Mr. Bergman serves on a number of boards in related areas including the University of Pennsylvania, New York University, the University of Witwatersrand, Tel Aviv University, the Metropolitan Opera, and the Business Council for International Understanding. In addition, Mr. Bergman has been active in numerous dental industry and professional associations, including the American Dental Association (where he served on the Oversight Committee, Future of Dentistry Project for the ADA and was awarded honorary membership) and The Forsyth Institute, the premiere oral health research institution in the United States.
Mr. Bergman received his bachelor of commerce from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa, where he completed postgraduate studies in accounting. He is a New York State Certified Public Accountant, a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and a South African Chartered Accountant. |
