Mr. Lehman is a Shareholder and Director of the firm and is Chair of the firm’s Insurance Coverage Services Group and a member of the firm’s Corporate, Litigation and Estates and Trusts Services Groups. Mr. Lehman is primarily involved in insurance coverage and related matters. His practice also focuses on the tax, estates and trusts and corporate law areas.
In the area of insurance coverage, Mr. Lehman has experience in the analysis of such coverage and related litigation. In this regard, he is involved in the analysis of coverage under significant business policies including, but not limited to, director and officer liability, fiduciary responsibility, employment practices liability, accountant malpractice and professional errors and omissions policies. He also monitors significant litigation for clients and provides advice on an ongoing basis as to the impact such litigation has on coverage under the related policies. Finally, Mr. Lehman consults with the firm's Litigation practice on many types of litigation related to insurance coverage, including interpleader, declaratory judgment actions and general coverage actions.
In his general corporate practice, Mr. Lehman advises both publicly traded and privately held companies on their day-to-day business operations. For example, he successfully counseled a company for 13 years from its start-up phase, through its initial public offering to its ultimate sale for $400 million. In addition to overseeing its transition throughout its business cycle, he also handled the company's and its founder's tax and estate planning matters relating to the evolution of the business, as well as its eventual sale.
Mr. Lehman also advises businesses and individuals on tax planning matters on a day-to-day basis as well as representing them in tax compliance matters. In the area of estate planning, he counsels clients on cost-effective methods for transferring wealth and strategies for retaining business ownership, as well as the development of strong business succession plans. Besides business succession planning, Mr. Lehman also has experience with family limited partnerships, private annuities, irrevocable life insurance trusts, Q-tip trusts, credit shelter trusts and charitable trusts, as well as private foundations.
In 2006, Mr. Lehman was selected as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer®. Mr. Lehman is also very active with a number of civic and charitable organizations in the community. He is a certified public accountant.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Lehman was an attorney at Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney, PC. Mr. Lehman was an attorney with Klett Rooney Lieber & Schorling when it merged with Buchanan in 2006. There, he was a member of the firm's Practice Management Committee, serving as one of the practice managers for the Corporate department, and was chair of the Estate and Tax group.
