Stan focuses on construction and public finance law, working closely with clients on construction bids and contracts as well as selection processes and agreements for architects, construction managers and consultants. He counsels clients with respect to general obligation and revenue bonds, and provides representation in litigation and alternative dispute resolution. Stan has been appointed as special counsel by the Ohio attorney general to draft standard bidding and construction documents and design professional and construction manager agreements for most state agencies and institutions, as well as for state-assisted school facilities. He has also been appointed as special counsel to resolve certain claims involving roads and bridges. Stan has drafted bid and construction documents and negotiated design professional and construction manager agreements for state high-rise office buildings, performing arts venues and turnpike facilities. He has assisted counties, cities, villages, townships, school districts and special purpose districts with the preparation and negotiation of construction and other contracts and the resolution of bid and construction disputes and contract claims. Stan has served as issuer’s, bond and underwriter’s counsel for numerous bond and loan transactions. He has also drafted and negotiated contracts and resolved disputes on behalf of design professionals, contractors and developers. Stan is an active member of the Steering Committee of the Owner’s and Lender’s Division of the American Bar Association’s Forum on the Construction Industry. He formerly chaired the Ohio State Bar Association’s Construction and Government Contracts Committee and is a member of its Construction and State and Local Government Committees. Stan is a former chair of the Columbus Bar Association’s Construction Law Committee and a member of its Government Agencies Committee. Also a member of the Ohio Council of School Board Attorneys, National Association of Bond Lawyers and Central Ohio Builders Exchange and a former member of the American Arbitration Association’s Central Ohio Construction Advisory Council, Stan is a frequent speaker at legal and business conferences and seminars. He is also the author of numerous articles including The Open Meetings and Public Records chapter of Ohio Municipal Law.
