Stan Thompson, MD, has devoted his professional life to caring for patients utilizing his expertise in cardiovascular medicine. Originally from Willamette, Illinois, Dr. Thompson earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Denver and medical degree from the University of Louisville, Kentucky. With postgraduate work at the Naval Regional Medical Center in Oakland, California, his cardiology fellowship took him to the Naval Regional Medical Center in San Diego. He has been a member of the Saint Mary’s medical staff since 1979. During his tenure, he has served as chairman of the Department of Cardiology, chairman of the Intensive Care Unit Committee and Chief of Staff. Dr. Thompson has given his time as a member and chairman of the board of directors of the Heart Institute of Northern Nevada and as a board member of the American Heart Association and Reno Heart Physicians. He devoted significant time and effort to the development and completion of the Wiegand Heart Center at Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center. |
