Sonya Parrish-Boun focuses her practice on handling a variety of matters in defense of employers and municipalities in the areas of harassment, discrimination, wrongful termination, and retaliation. She proactively advises clients regarding personnel polices and assists employers in drafting severance agreements, responding to EEOC charges, conducting internal investigations regarding discrimination complaints, and litigation.
Prior to joining Ford & Harrison, she was an associate at a Phoenix law firm. Earlier in her career, she served as an extern for Judge Linda B. Riegle in Federal Bankruptcy Court in Las Vegas, Nevada. She also served as a Research Assistant in the area of Employment and Labor Law for Professor Ann C. McGinley.
Sonya is a member of the Labor and Employment and Commercial Litigation Sections of the Arizona State Bar and the American Bar Association.
Sonya is a regular contributor to The Arizona Employment Law Letter. The publication is available by subscription through the publisher, M. Lee Smith Publishers LLC. Sonya also frequently serves as a guest speaker for various employment-related seminars, giving presentations about such topics as the FMLA, the FLSA, and recent developments in the interpretation of and litigation related to those statutes.
During law school, Sonya was the Editor in Chief for the Nevada Law Journal (2003-2004) and a staff member (2002-2003). She received the Dean's Award for Outstanding Service, May 2004; and CALI Awards for Excellence in Constitutional Law, Employment Law, Disabilities Law, and Land Use Regulation. She was also Vice President of Operations for the Public Interest Law Association, 2002-2003.
