Bringing 10 years of startup and wireless R&D leadership, Sohrab Emami focused 5 years of research and development at the Berkeley Wireless Research Center (BWRC) on the design and modeling of 60 GHz CMOS transceiver circuits for high data rate wireless applications, prior to co-founding SiBEAM. Along with Doan, Emami was awarded the Jack Raper Award for Outstanding Technology Directions Paper at ISSCC 2004 for co-developing a modeling approach for devices up to 65 GHz and for demonstrating the world's first CMOS amplifiers beyond 30 GHz. For breakthrough work on wireless systems, Emami was also awarded the Hitachi-UC Berkeley Management of Technology Fellowship in 2003. Prior to his work at the BWRC, Emami was co-founder of another startup company, KARA-Systems, Inc. where he was responsible for development of control systems and instrumentation utilized in industrial markets. Emami received an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Tokyo Institute of Technology and B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology. |
