Dr. Travis is a world leader in the treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). He is the Chairman of the IBD Section of the British Society of Gastroenterology, and is the author of BSG Guidelines for the IBD 2004 Council and the British Society of Gastroenterology in 2005. Dr. Travis authored the European Consensus on the management of Crohn's Disease and is a member of the European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation’s Scientific Committee.
His research interests include new therapies for IBD as well as predicting outcomes and patient care. He qualified from St. Thomas Hospital in 1981 and underwent specialist training in London and Oxford after his service with the Royal Marines in 1982. He was appointed Consultant Gastroenterolgist in Plymouth in 1994 and in Oxford in 2002. Dr. Travis is a Fellow of Linacre College, University of Oxford. |
