Simon Freakley is chief executive officer and president of Kroll. He also serves as an executive officer of MMC (Marsh & McLennan Companies), Kroll’s parent company.
Since his appointment as CEO in October 2004, Simon has led Kroll on a continuing course of strategic expansion. Today, the firm operates in more than 65 cites in over 33 countries, employs more than 4,800 professionals and support staff, and generates global yearly revenues of approximately $1 billion.
Under Simon’s leadership, Kroll has continued the transformation of its business to encompass traditional consulting businesses and scalable technology-enabled solutions. Simon has overseen the acquisition and integration of more than 20 businesses ranging in scale from small competitors to mid-size companies that bring new innovative capabilities to Kroll and enhance existing service offerings. Acquisitions have spanned a variety of sectors, including conceptual search technology, security intelligence, background screening, substance abuse testing, and electronic evidence and paper discovery. Simon has also driven the expansion of Kroll’s global footprint and further established the firm’s presence in emerging markets, most notably Asia and South America.
Prior to assuming the role of CEO, Simon served as head of Kroll’s Corporate Advisory & Restructuring Group. He has more than 20 years of experience helping companies resolve their financial and legal problems, with expertise in business turnaround, strategic consulting, and mediation. Simon has developed and implemented business recovery strategies for a number of the largest high-profile turnarounds and restructurings in recent years, including Federal-Mogul Group and Budget Rent-A-Car. He also served on Kroll's Board of Directors until the firm’s acquisition by MMC in July 2004.
Simon joined Kroll in 1999 when Kroll purchased The Buchler Phillips Group, a European-based restructuring consulting practice that Simon had led since 1995. |
