Simon N.R. Harford became vice president and controller of Eli Lilly and Company in May 2006. He had been executive director and chief financial officer for Europe, Middle East and Africa based in the United Kingdom since July 2004. He serves as a member of the company’s operations committee.
Born in Windlesham, England, he received a master’s degree in business administration in 1988 from the University of Virginia’s Darden School.
Harford joined the company in Indianapolis in 1988 as an international financial associate. He held various assignments in the United States and Europe as a sales representative, business development manager for Hungary/CIS, finance manager for Europe, finance director for Beiersdorf-Lilly, and finance manager for the internal medicine business unit. In 1998, he became finance director and chief financial officer for Lilly Italy. In 2000, he was named director of investor relations and was promoted to executive director of investor relations in January 2003. |
