Simon is a co-founder of iStor Networks and is an industry veteran with over 20 years of experience in data storage systems, SCSI and Fiber Channel RAID, network attached storage, and ATA ASIC.
Prior to iStor Networks, Simon co-founded CMD Technology, Inc in 1987. As CEO, he was able to lead the company throughout 50 consecutive profitable quarters. CMD has several significant achievements, such as being recognized as the leading-edge storage controller vendor for VAX computers and clusters; pioneering the world’s first 5-1/4 SCSI-to-SCSI disk array controller for any system platform; as well as envisioning the Pentium PCI-EIDE market opportunity and getting design wins in all the top 20 world class OEM customers with shipments in excess of twenty million units of ASICs. CMD was acquired by Silicon Image in June of 2001. Further, Simon held key positions at AST Research, Emulex and General Automation.
Lauded for his entrepreneurial contributions, Simon was awarded the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award from 1991 to 1993, and has been recognized for his business leadership in Inc. Magazine as well in The Orange County Business Journal. Simon holds an M.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering from Ohio State University at Columbus, Ohio, and a B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering from National Taiwan University. |
