Experience Trusts and Estates Sheryl A. Fried joined the firm in 1977 as a paralegal in the trusts and estates group. She is proficient in all aspects of the administration of estates, trusts, conservatorships, and guardianships and routinely: Prepares probate court documents for estate, conservatorship and guardianship administrations Identifies, assembles and values estate and trust assets Prepares state and federal estate and inheritance tax returns for attorney review Prepares estate and trust fiduciary income tax returns for attorney review Maintains financial records of assets during the course of estate and trust administrations, including payment of bills and deposits of funds Prepares estate and trust accountings (she developed the standard form of trust account that is now required by Rule 417.02 of Minnesota Rules of Court as revised in 1995) Calculates and implements distributions of estate and trust assets to beneficiaries Maintains permanent trust records for individual trustees She is also experienced in preparing individual income tax returns and gift tax returns for attorney review. She assists our estate planning clients by forecasting the gift and estate tax consequences of proposed transfers. She also prepares deeds, change of ownership and beneficiary designations, and transfer documents for securities and bank accounts to fund trusts. Her expertise in these areas has also been utilized in her analysis of estate administrations conducted by others in cases where clients have requested an independent review of such administrations.
