Shepley Heard served as a seasonal assistant in the pro scouting department in 2005 and was promoted to pro scout on in 2006. Heard's duties include assisting the pro scouting department as an advance scout, grading potential free agents, and scouting players in NFL Europe, the Canadian Football League and the Arena Football League.
Heard played safety and special teams at the University of Central Oklahoma from 1998 to 2001 and was part of a team that captured the Lone Star Conference title in 1998 and 1999. His 1998 team finished the regular season undefeated and the top team in Division II.
Heard played quarterback and outside Linebacker at Muskogee (OK.) High School, where he was selected to Oklahoma's all state team his senior season. The Muskogee, Oklahoma product coached receivers and defensive backs at his former high school in 2002. Prior to the 2003 season, he was hired at Texas A&M University as a video graduate assistant and eventually worked his way on the field as a defensive graduate assistant, working with the defensive line.
Heard, 28, received his degree in industrial safety from Central Oklahoma.
