Shawnna M. Yashar* is an associate in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Firm's Washington D.C. office. She is a member of the Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department.
During law school, Shawnna served as a licensing associate in the Technology Transfer Offices of the United States Naval Research Laboratory and Johns Hopkins University. As a licensing associate, Shawnna negotiated patent licenses, inter-institutional agreements, sublicenses and cooperative research and development agreements in the fields of biotechnology, chemistry, electrical engineering, material science, nanotechnology and software. Shawnna also worked as a legal research consultant for the Digital Connections Council of the Committee for Economic Development where she researched the economic impact of open source software and patent enforcement companies.
After obtaining her B.S. in chemical engineering, Shawnna worked as an engineer for a business intelligence software solutions company.
Shawnna is admitted to practice in Virginia and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
