Shawn Wang joined Baidu as Chief Financial Officer in September 2004. Prior to joining Baidu, he was a Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Shawn worked with PWC’s Global Capital Markets Group in various offices including New York, London, Hong Kong and, for the 2 most recent years, in Beijing, China, specializing in cross-border capital markets transactions. Shawn’s experience includes assisting non-US companies in public offerings, private placements, and cross-border M&A activities. He accumulated extensive expertise in corporate financial reporting and disclosure, US GAAP and international accounting standards, US SEC regulations, as well as corporate capital markets strategy. He had served as a key advisor to companies including Bank of China Hong Kong, PetroChina, China Eastern Airlines, United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC), Kookmin Bank, and British Steel, among others.
In 2003, Shawn took a 1-year leave from PWC and was engaged by China Securities Regulatory Commission as an advisor on the regulation of public offerings in China’s domestic capital market. Currently, Shawn Wang is engaged by China’s Ministry of Finance as its expert advisor to The Accounting Standards Board.
Shawn received a Master of Science Degree in Accounting from The American University, a Master of Arts Degree in Higher Education Administration from West Virginia University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from Northwestern Polytechnical University in China. |
