Shawn Peterson is a Security Policy and Compliance Analyst for Special Ops Security, Inc., an information security consulting, training, and deployment services organization headquartered in Orange County. Before joining Special Ops Security, Shawn worked in elective politics and, as a part of his graduate education, worked in the International Security Policy office of the Department of Defense. While at the Pentagon, he worked with a diverse set of issues, including: missile defense, technology transfers, and military training to Balkan, Caucasus, and Central Asian nations through the International Military Education and Training (IMET). He has done extensive research in the areas of cyber-warfare, cyber-terrorism, and cyber-crime, with particular emphasis on the United States' capabilities, vulnerabilities, and the threats posed by other nation-states and non-state actors. Shawn is currently pursuing the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) designation, with an emphasis on security policy and compliance. Shawn has a Masters of Science in Defense and Strategic Studies from Southwest Missouri State University (SMSU) in Springfield, Missouri, and holds a Bachelor's degree from Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota. |
