Shaun Comfort M.D. M.B.A. was promoted to Vice President of Clinical Research in May 2008. Shaun originally came to Anesiva in May 2007 as Senior Director of Clinical Research to lead the acute pain development program for Adlea (4975). He joined us from Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Research and Development in Titusville NJ where he was associate director CNS/Analgesics R&D since 2005. There Shaun was an integral member of the Tapentadol acute pain development program. Prior to Johnson & Johnson he served as medical officer for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Division of Therapeutic Biologic Internal Medicine Products and the Division of Anesthetics Critical Care and Addiction Drug Products reviewing clinical studies for analgesic products in acute chronic and neuropathic pain conditions as well as biologic products for use in neurodegenerative conditions such as multiple sclerosis. Dr. Comfort is a Diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He earned a BA in Physics from the State University of New York completed his MD and residency in Neurology at the University of New Mexico and received an MBA in Accounting/Finance from Regis University in Denver.
