Sharon Emery has been named vice president of The Rossman Group. She will provide strategic planning and develop editorial content for clients.
Emery previously directed Lansing, Washington and Detroit bureau coverage of government and business news for the eight Booth Newspapers in Michigan. Over a 20-year career, she also wrote news stories and columns for the 600,000-circulation group, which includes the Grand Rapids Press, Flint Journal, Ann Arbor News, Kalamazoo Gazette, Saginaw News, Muskegon Chronicle, Jackson Citizen-Patriot and Bay City Times.
Prior to that she taught journalism at Michigan State University, where she also pursued a doctorate in mass media.
Emery has a master’s degree from Columbia University School of Journalism in New York City. She is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Wayne State University. In 2001-2002 she won a Knight-Wallace Journalism Fellowship to the University of Michigan, one of 12 awarded annually to mid-career journalists nationwide. |
