Sharon L. Nelson (age 60) has been a director of Itron since March 2003. Ms. Nelson’s term as a director expires in 2007. Sharon Nelson is an attorney and served as chief of the Consumer Protection Division of the Washington State Attorney General’s Office and director of the Shidler Center for Law Commerce and Technology at the University of Washington. In addition Ms. Nelson was a consultant to both corporations and nonprofit organizations specializing in advice on public policy and regulation. She has extensive experience with issues affecting the utility industry having served as both chairman of the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission and president of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners. She currently serves as chair of the Board of Directors of Consumers Union is a member of the Board of Trustees of the North American Electric Reliability Council (NERC) and sits on the National Energy Policy Commission which is funded by the Hewlett Foundation.
